First Day of the Season

I'm in Utah!

Skied Alta today. Rented equipment. Line Prophet 100 boards. Scarpa T1 boots. Not sure which bindings, shiny & red with compression springs in the cables.

Story on Line is that they're from Vermont and were recently acquired by K2. K2 just acts a distributor. Really fun, fat (100mm waist!), boards. My first time on skis like this. I think they're 171cm or some ridiculously short number. Keep in mind that I still own a pair of 210s.

I don't really blog, not really. I'm very happy to see the new BEQ blog. I'd bet others could do a great "vinyl lover" blog.

9 working days left

My office is moving to Waltham on Jan. 12th. However, with my days off, that's only 9 working days away. Including today. A few things I need to do before I start my new life as a 128-commuter:

* eat at Boca Grande every day
* take in a matinee at Kendall Sq. Cinema
* go for a final browse at Quantum Books & MIT Press
* lunch trucks?
* lunch break in Harvard Sq.
* lunch break in Chinatown
* meet friends after work, only taking public transit
* buy fish & oysters at the New Deal Market before heading home

We Are All Scientists

Guiness, what goes up, must come down.

It's Science!

Umm...

What a mess.

This means that the NY Giants must forfeit last year's Super Bowl, right?

Never trust a skinny chef.

The philosophy of Kenny Shopsin revealed: I Like Killing Flies (2004).

Shopsin's is now in the Essex Street Market. http://shopsins.com Check out the menu. I'm ready for a "Blisters on my Sisters".

Life List

I've been pouring over Jeff Varasano's pizza recipe. The autolyse phase is the most critical step of making the dough. He's also modded his oven to allow him to use the "self-clean" setting to bake a pie @ 800F.
