While I may be biased, I think my take on the debate was correct (I won't name names if that's OK with you, pchippy): McCain tanked. The bristly, snippy, angry, whiny, faux-hurt voice might be great for his hardcore supporters, but it's not going to do anything for the people he needs to win this election. Ironical that the one GOP candidate most resonant with independents throughout the Primary season is so repugnant to them now.

Would anyone else have guessed that the greatest incursion into the markets since the Great Depression would be overseen by the Bush Administration? Come on! We --the taxpayers-- own sizable debt from Bear Stearns and now 80% of AIG. Maybe this is a bit of hyperbole... but really... what happened to "the market works best on its' own"?

I won't link to all the commentary. I'd have to agree with the sentiment that there are plenty of more qualified Republicans (who happen to be women) to choose from.
