Pixies on Tuesday...

What time does the caravan leave for Amherst?

Posted by dawnbixtler on 2004-11-29 21:21:12 +0000
Go early, go often.... 6:00 ish. Do we need to see the Bennies? Next question: Where do we meet?

Again 6:00 meet up is where...?

Whose car? How many? Count me in (I'm assuming someone has one ticket earmarked for me). I could drive...

I have your ticket. I could drive (pushing 6,000 miles on this oil change.)

I'm doing 10k per oil change and I still feel like I'm wasteful... check the oil, make sure it's full and clean, and don't change it until you _need_ to. The periodic oil change is propaganda from the oil cartels. Ray from Car Talk doesn't change the oil at all in his Dodge Colt Vista

Caravan left at 6:30pm. Ned & I hit the Indie Metal Parking Lot circa 8:15pm. BQ, Ed, Honor, and G were located. Beers were drunk, jays were smoked. "Is that Chris Olds?" "Nah, that's not Chris Olds." "Is that Chris Olds?" Got into the Mullins Center just as Burma was starting Academy Fight Song, their last song of the set. Here's my attempt at the Pixies set list: Bone Machine . Caribou . Guoge Away Debaser . Silver . Encore: Wave of Mutilation Gigantic Steps Yeah, I don't know song names. I wasn't blown away. Santiago was ripping it up on the guitar, although he was tentative at the beginning of some riffs. Nothing surprising. I enjoyed the feedback section. I'll agree with Ed: Frank Black carried the show. He was screaming his head off the entire night (~90 minutes) and still made the harmonies during some of the "quieter" songs toward the end. Pixies are a loud band. Never really appreciated how many noisy, grating, rockin' songs they have. They played all the hits last night except "Here Comes My Man" & "Pilgrim".

Umm.. I don't.

If last night was typical, it should be no problem finding a scalper at face value.

Loud. Wow. Just loud. Black is simply a musician, not a huge showman, but enough... and the man can scream.
