"Pregnant Moose Are Tough," for the stages of mitosis--Pre-phase, Meta-phase, Ana-phase, Telo-pase.
"King Philip Calls Out For Greek Salad": Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species.
"Iamb the very model of a modern major general": an iamb is a poetic unit consisting of an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed one; the entire song by Gilbert and Sullivan is iambic.
"When you sing with karaoke, then you know you have a trochee": a trochee is a poetic unit consisting of a stressed syllable followed by an unstressed one; the word "karaoke" consists of two trochees. Also, "Suzanne Vega is trochaic": not only is the name "Suzanne Vega" trochaic, but her song "Tom's Diner" is completely trochaic as well (though its title isn't). So I guess I ought to write this mnemonic as "[']Suzanne Vega['] is trochaic."
