Beta Band appreciation post
Damn fine band, one of the originals. "The Beta Band" self-titled still manages to amuse and confuse some 5 years later.

"Smiling" still kills me. And the first track. Goodies all over though...
I guess The Avalanches still do this. Who else? Basement Jaxx? I never got into "Rooty" which of I have of theirs. Beck? He seems too LA/Madonna, as in he needs to "re-invent" himself every album.
Isn't Astralwerks British?

I've always imagined Astralwerks as NYC.

Interesting. That is easily my least favorite Beta album.

Convinced (coerced probably more like it) Stef to buy the "Best of Beta Band" 2CD last night. *Still* criminally underrated act. Dawn, you'll be happy to hear that "Smiling" made the cut. That and "It's Not Too Beautiful" were the only ones represented of the self-titled (and still favorite). Haven't heard the live disc. Good times.
I think Stef likes it. Certainly made her want to smoke pot. She didn't believe that we were *this close* to following them around Grateful Dead-style.

I could have sold veggie tofu burrito's for a couple weeks "on tour"...

How is the 2nd disc? Isn't it a live disc?
