"The troops 'won't be leaving until we have completed our mission,' Bush said. 'And part of the mission is to train Iraqis so they can fight the terrorists.'"
You can almost hear Bush's spine rotting...
And finally someone has the balls to
compare Iraq and Vietnam. A Mass. Senator no less
"President Bush said the public's decision to reelect him was a ratification of his approach toward Iraq and that there was no reason to hold any administration officials accountable for mistakes or misjudgments in prewar planning or managing the violent aftermath.
"'We had an accountability moment, and that's called the 2004 elections,' Bush said in an interview with The Washington Post. 'The American people listened to different assessments made about what was taking place in Iraq, and they looked at the two candidates, and chose me.'"
What planet is Bush on? How detached can a person with such huge responsibilities possibly be?
Honestly, I'm numb...

Here's an ineqaulity for you: drunk driving and killing your passenger does not equal launching an unneccessary war without proper planning that has resulted in the loss of life to ~20,000 people.
Can we get past the ad hominem attacks? I agree that Ted Kennedy is not an ideal role model. Forgetting about who said it, is there anything in Teddy K's remarks that are demonstrably _wrong_? No.

"The policy is blunder after blunder."
Yeah, clearly the thoughts of a lunatic.

To say that John Zorn is the greatest musician of all time, and then say you DO NOT like him, but you do like music, is not logical. If you like them for some valid reason, don't stop listening/watching them. If you say you like them because "wdchgyuj3487dhuwc" means nothing, because "wdchgyuj3487dhuwc" means nothing.
PA-180 Elementary Logic. Spring of '95. Great class.
For me, (and I have no f#$#$%N clue how this applies to textbook logic or philosophy) If I hear something I like, I dont always have a textbook defined reason - refer to the discussion TGL and I had about whether something "rocks" or not. Sometimes to my ears (or eyes or whatever) it just does.
True, I cant win any debates with an argument like this or use it an empirical/ scientific way, but If you think human beings in America will base all of their decisions on specific valid logical arguments, I would beg to differ. sayin'

rladew, you had a list of actions that taken together might seem illogical, Hall & Oates plus Zorn? I think dawnbixtler was wishing for US foreign policy that somehow logically connected foreign adventurism and homeland security, as an example.
You are right, Americans do not make decisions based on logical self-interest or reasoning. Why would anyone buy a Hummer? Forty Jandek albums?
What's sorta ironic in these early years of the 22nd Century is that it's conservatives that are more swayed by "faith" and "feelings", and liberals are standing around screaming "Look At The Facts, Man!"
(I don't have a clue what dawn's post on textbook logic meant either).
My initial reaction was to the following statement, though:
"There should be valid and sound logic in opinions... "
Granted, this is POLITIK... but still...
