Sheffield

Hasn't been mentioned on here at all today: -The guys in the stands were a bunch of assholes, clearly fucking with Sheffield. No chance of getting the ball. If they HAD had a chance to get it, fan interference would've made the play a ground rule double. Again, assholes. -Sheffield did really well not to react more. And I think he was totally justified in swatting the guy who hit him. -I was hoping his double would be a home run.

In the car this afternoon around 1pm, then 2:30pm with WEEI for as long as I could take it, then again at 6:30pm. How long can Red Sox Nation re-hash this play? I agree with your sentiments.

I don't see it. I've seen the play between 25 and 30 times: the fan was going for the ball, and Shefield fucking went after him, during play!!! I'm hoping for 3-5 game suspension for Mr. Juice, and perhaps reprimand from the Yankees internally. Not as bad as throwing a chair into the stands, ala last year, but pretty serious. The fan should have been thrown out and was. The bigger jerk was the dude who threw beer on Shef. This isn't fucking Jeffery Maher, the second worst fan interference of my lifetime, and no one went after him, remember? Jerk!

I'm with Dawn on this. House was going for the ball, which is a good enough reason to throw him out of the park. The reason it doesn't really look like he's going for the ball is that he's too fat, drunk and slow to actually bend over and reach properly. Sheff was totally out of line, so was the beer guy. (for alcohol abuse) Interestingly, the Boston news is very ambiguous, with lines like, "Sheffield, who said he was hit in the face," " Another fan, who apparently tossed beer in Sheffield's direction," and "'As with all investigations in the city of Boston, we are prohibited from giving the status.'" Whereas the New York news is much more definitive: "a Fenway Park fan hit the Yankees' All-Star right fielder in the face," "the man who threw a beer at Sheffield," and (my favorite) "Boston police seeking a judge to sign an arrest warrant for Chris House." Good to see that in our unbiased media, local slants are allowed in the sports sections.

After reading dirtdogs I realized this guy (Chris House) is a an asshole. Based purely on video, it does look like he was going for the ball. Still a dick move, but defendable. In hindsight, he might have tried to tag Shef. Still defendable (joke), but a bit worse. Take away his seasons and give them to me and tendiamonds....
