I was looking for a job and then I found a job...

Boston people: . Meet me at the Cambridge Brewing Company on Friday at 6:00 for a little early birthday party/ last day of work hot action that should involve beer towers and maybe some food. If it's nice out, we'll sit on the patio. . Let me know if you're going to come, so I can get reservations.

[And, yes that subject line is a Smiths fagan.] ________________ The Boot Knife of Mild Reason

I wish I could be there! En lieu of that, here's a Jane Austen fagan to hopefully make you smile. And I don't give a damn that I'm pointing it out myself. Nor do I give two hoots that I have no idea what a fagan is.

That might be a meta-fagan. Not sure what that is, though. http://www.fageninc.com/

I'm thinkin' that the metafagan is one that points itself out (again, whatever that means.) A fagan, of course, is any cultural reference that stops conversation because it alienates people- so, mentioning Darth Vader, for example, on Jon Bon Jovi, is not dropping any kind of Fagan at all because everyone knows both.

Maybe if you dropped Darth Vader on Jon Bon Jovi, JBJ's cleft chin might smooth out as a result of the impact... Why "fagan"?

We were sitting on the back porch one night and Ned started talking about the Donald Fagan solo album (he of Steely Dan.) I mentioned that Ned had just 'dropped the Fagan' and it stuck.

E! FAGEN Is it a fagen to point out the proper spelling of fagen? Or is it just me being a prick?

(accidental double post)

You're totally right- FagEn, not FagAn. Maybe the latter is the British spelling. Anyway, I will standardize circa: pronto. (I think the spelling Fagen might be a Branca.)

Most educational. I thank you, Tiberius. And Tez, mate - pointing out spelling errors is both necessary and painstaking work, and I salute you.
