But on a more serious note, Miriam my dear, love tends to crop up when it's least expected (or at least from unexpected sources). When I was gearing up to move back to Boston to break The Curse of Amsterdam (my first 2 years here I had very little local interest, whereas it seemed like back in Boston there was sex burbling around every corner), six weeks before my flight back, I suddenly got smacked down by the Love Monster. Inconvenient as hell, but totally worth it. Now I'm not saying that some New England hottie will knock your socks off right before you move back to TN, but... stranger things have happened. So do not lose heart, you beautiful sexy witty intriguing and beguiling young lady, you! Or you'll make me shake my fist at you, and nobody wants that. x

Relying on friends ain't so bad, IMHO. Ed was my best friend in Amsterdam's first boyfriend (she dated him when she was 16). Apparently he was bitching to her about how he never meets anyone, and she said, "Look, some fabulous woman isn't going to show up at your door one night and ask you out, you have to get out there and meet people!" So she convinced him to come out to the pub with a few of her friends...
