More SW stuff: The Globe reported today that the ending opened Spielberg's tear ducts... have no idea whether that's true or not...
No, Dawn, Matt Drudge didnt have to read this story for me :)

Not just equal, but better, is what I get from the review.
Acting still sucks though.
Deftly written review, so thought I.

And to think Episode IV was about Vietnam. My how times have not changed

Holds about as much water as LOTR being about WWII which Tolkien emphatically denied for his whole life....
Part of Star Wars appeal is its adherence to GENERAL mythologies that everyone can relate to...
Im sure Lucas is way too money hungry to be making a political statement of the evils of large capitalist societies

Well, since Lucas said as much, I believe it. Tolkien denied it, but it was true. Did you read the Post article? Do you think Lucas is lying?

No, I read the Toronto Sun source material.
If Lucas thinks Bush is a dictator, that's fine.. everyone is entitled to their opinion...
I tend to go to be entertained, maybe I should have rephrased my post to say that I feel SW's wide appeal is because it doesent get too specifically political.
If the left wants to use SW as a tool for its arguments, again, its a free country, but I dont think this is a commercial or PSA for a specific political viewpoint. If it is, I choose not to view it that way.

Fair enough.
Lucas wrote Star Wars as a commentary on Vietnam, yet here we (the USA) are 34 years later making the same (worse?) mistakes, and his sentiment still deftly applies.
