This is Ridiculous.

5.31.05 This is Ridiculous. I'm at work (if you can call it that) where I'm a computer graphics guy, playing with PANTONE colors and the like. Last week: stressful- hip-hop jock dudes demanding Photoshop files at the drop of a hat. This week, nothin'. I'm the weird guy here. My office is plastered with Black Flag, Spiderman, and Ramones posters. My itunes folder blasts Gang Of Four (not that lamo 50 cent, like many of my colleagues). A lot of people here work out in the gym at lunch, I go skateboarding. Although, they put the hammer down on that one telling me it's a liability when roller blading is perfectly acceptable. So, here I sit. An alien, doing nothing until 5 o'clock, just waiting, waiting, waiting...

I feel like Antique Roadshow here, trying to spot the faux and the authentic.

Sounds like your job is cake. Stop your bellyaching! At least you can leave it there when you leave there.

Posted by tgl on 2005-06-01 14:02:52 +0000
authenticly gruesome

Posted by tgl on 2005-06-01 14:04:03 +0000
C'mon, Miriam, nothing stopping you from not bringing the job home.

Posted by Miriam on 2005-06-01 14:11:43 +0000
Fine, I'm an asshole for not knowing this guy and his tragedy. Boo hoo.

Posted by Miriam on 2005-06-01 14:13:07 +0000
Um, right. Maybe if I drank heavily it wouldn't follow me so closely, but it does. I get to listen to and try to help very scared people most of the time. It tends to follow you everywhere, not just at home.

Left! The left! You need to exit from the left side of the bed, Miriam. ;)

Reason #7080 why I should move to Nashville...I'm not nice anymore.

I say antique, just for the record.

And uh...Hey Duncan...Welcome Nice to have you.

Posted by pamsterdam on 2005-06-01 19:13:54 +0000
Oooh... Ass, Ass, Ass, Planet of Ass, indeed! Ahem. Sorry, Duncan. Welcome!

Posted by Rory_Stark on 2005-06-01 19:24:18 +0000
Don't mind Miriam she's just ______.

Posted by pamsterdam on 2005-06-01 19:30:07 +0000
Are you replying to me or to Miriam? I'm so confused...

Posted by Rory_Stark on 2005-06-01 19:35:19 +0000
Um...Duncan I guess. I clicked on the wrong thread at some point and for a second I thought something Rich wrote was in regards to this post. It was oddly appropriate though. "What kind of back water burb is this?" "Welcome to amateur hour"...etc He was quoting Twin Peaks.

Posted by pamsterdam on 2005-06-01 19:38:25 +0000
Mmm.

Posted by frame609 on 2005-06-02 16:24:25 +0000
Has Duncan come and gone already?

Posted by Rory_Stark on 2005-06-02 17:37:04 +0000
I'd be off like a prom dress.

True that. Three cheers for negativity scaring away new members of the board!

There is plenty of history about how we talk housed right on the site already. Having said that, what would/ should / could we do differently? _______________________________

My post was meant to be endearing...

Posted by Miriam on 2005-06-02 19:07:53 +0000
looking fabulous with her new haircut?

Posted by pamsterdam on 2005-06-02 20:42:57 +0000
...and mine was meant to be complimentary! Plus, he opened for Scissorfight, so...

Posted by Rory_Stark on 2005-06-02 21:50:37 +0000
I gotta say, when I read Dawn's "I want everything I've ever given you back. You're dead to me." comment in the other post. Even I had know idea what he meant by it. If you think people are going to do research to be down with the cool kids...well...ya know. Otherwise, (trying to rise a level above the Devil and be positive here), Pam has the right idea and is very nice. I respond to all this because I invited the man here. But whatever, it's just a drupal...The Not Ready For Prime Time Drupal.

I want everything I've ever given you back. You're dead to me.

Posted by frame609 on 2005-06-03 03:50:07 +0000
Whatever. There's an occasional insinuation that comes through the board, that it's just a bunch of injokes from a clique- then new people join and are bombarded with negativity. Double standard, yeah!

Posted by pamsterdam on 2005-06-03 07:51:04 +0000
I liked the new guy! Did we really scare him? Oh well - at least Rory thinks I'm nice.

Plus, the new guy is from Upton. Blackstone Valley Represent! . Know how I know this? BeckyBunny went to highschool with him. . Hi Duncan, I like your schtick, and I wish that I had seen you open for scissorfight! Welcome to the 'stupid waste-of-time rideside.net chatboard' (tm)!
