Dear Francona

OK Terry F. you asked for it: Lou Pinnella is right, "Throw strikes and play good defense." It works, and it comforts pitchers. When first base isn't open, the pitcher should throw a strike. The catcher should block the ball at all costs, and when Torii (not the second, but we hope the last) Hunter is on first, make sure the pitcher throws to first once or twice. And when Wakefiled is pitching, throw twice and maybe even back off the mound once, to keep Torii honest. Am I the only one who realizes Damon should be in left? It would be perfect. I love his glove, and his batting first in the line-up, but for lack of a better term, he throws like a girl, which wouldn't be so bad in the shortened Monster left field. I'd rather see Damon's toss, where the ball awkwardly passes his ear by two inches, go from left field to Nomar and then to home, than go from center on a roll to Belhorn who jogs it into the infield while the runner scores. Manny's a DH. Ortiz plays first. Millar cheerleads. We need a power hitting centerfielder. And when Ortiz DH's, have Pokey (not the Babe) pinch run for Millar (playing first), and Pokey replaces Belhorn at second in one run games in the 7th or later. I bet we have the highest "tripping while rounding second base" percentage in the league. Can we work on that? Bronson will go 3-0 in September with a 3.50 ERA. I like his motion and I don't think he'll hurt himself. Recognize! Williamson (great outing today) has the second lowest ERA on the team at 1.27 (Foulke 1.17) and he's costing us $1.6 million. He should not be part of any trade. I like McCarty and I don't know why. Yes, the whole pitching thing is fun, but there's something else to him. I bet he's fun in the clubhouse... There. I'm going to bed.

[/quote:cf73dc68ea] Anyone else read about Petey's base running instructions to Millar? Where he's naked, out of the shower, sliding around the locker room? Manny is cheering him on, towel-clad himself? This whole "clubhouse" thing sounds very homo-social. [quote:cf73dc68ea="edward"] I like McCarty and I don't know why. I might have to nominate Ned's post for 2004 MVP (Most Valueable Post).

They don't say that Millar has 'clubhouse intangibles' for nothing.

Beltran is on his way to Houston. Sorry Cubs fans...

Beltran signing to Houston once he hits free agency might happen. Or the Sox might make some space for him.

I like how Francona is a genius right now.

He'll be thrown back under the bus if they lose like three in a row.

So far it's 8 in a row, baby!
