I'm bored and tired and luckily less agitated than the last three days.

Why were you so agitated? x

I'd worked 3 months to save a woman's job, negotiated a beautiful way for her to stay and get more training for career development to better suit the department's needs, and her boss's boss decided on Thursday that they'd been forced into it by HR (who hadn't even been in the room when I put this thing together) and was about to erase my work and put this woman out of hers. And, I started freaking out about how to get all my crap down to TN.
Luckily, the big boss changed her mind, and I've started working out the kinks of my move.

You're my hero, Miriam. For serious.
Have you booked a mover yet? If it makes you feel any better, my friend Zoë's moving from Amsterdam to London in 3 weeks' time, 10 days of which she'll be on holiday abroad, and she doesn't have a place to live or a job there yet. Whoops.

I love you, Pamsterdam.
Still shopping around for movers. Had a good talk with one on the phone last night. So far his is the lowest quote, which sounds promising.

I'm afraid I can't help you, since I U-Hauled my way to Boston the first time, then got moved by my company to Amsterdam, then back to Boston by my company, and moved back over here with just what I could fit into my suitcases... so I have zero experience with hiring movers.
I do, however, have experience with pissing friends off by assuming they'll help me move without actually asking first. Um, frame609, you wouldn't know anything about that, would you? Um, right. What was that I said about demanding Leo bitches?
Go with your gut instinct if you can't get advice. Or you could anonymously request advice (or do a search for advice regarding movers or moving) on ask.metafilter.com.
Ooh, this advice looks helpful.
