Travis, Travis, Travis, is that all you people talk about??
gosh my name seems to pop up rather a lot in the recent posts page - must be popular or summat eh?

Please tell me you used the word "gosh" for comic effect. Or are you really a cricket-playing public schoolboy, hm?
Have you read yet that all 4 of the bombers were British-born? And they were all 30 or younger? So sad. The guy who was the brains behind the attack was on a plane out of the country hours before the bombs went off. I guess that's the way to do it - convince young, impressionable people to do your dirty work for you, then get the hell out of there.
I'm really glad you're ok, Trav. I mean, I barely know you, but you know how emotional we septics get. I cry during every episode of Holby City. Um, and EastEnders. Er... and frequently during the news.

i did use it for slight comic effect - although you have me worried now, im the charming bit of northern rough in an office full of old etonians and oxbridge types. It would be jolly unpleasant if i was to start speaking like them ;-)

Ooh, Travis, "the charming bit of northern rough"! A shiver just ran down my spine, you naughty boy. I'm a married woman, you can't speak to me like that! ;-)
A posh bloke from Torquay once told me, rather sniffily, "You only go in for uncultured accents, don't you, Pam?" I was rather proud of that comment, but then he told me I reminded him of Ruby Wax! I'd have socked him, but I don't punch men in glasses.
Jolly! Mum-in-law says "jolly" constantly. Gives me the giggles.

I'm sure it wasn't intended, but the comedic effect is bracing RE: the American way.

I'm always surprised when someone who I otherwise think is funny, smart, and well-written admits to liking Travis's spoken word, having read his books, and how powerful his work is and how much it means to them.
