Need to work on my Patti Smith fagen.

RE: Cover album
Could Smith handle The Dan?

----

Closest thing I've had to a spiritual experience was seeing Smith perform on April 5th (Good Friday) in 1996. After her recitation of "Perfect Moon" the auditorium held it's breath... not a sound. It was magical.

Apparently, someone else thought so as well:

She immediately launched into a poem about the "perfect moon" (<a href="http://www.postmodern.com/~fi/pattimisc/moon.au">sound clip #1</a>, 366KB), almost chanting the lines--hypnotically, rhythmically, building to a crescendo at the end. It was absolutely stunning . . . and when she finished, the auditorium was deadly quiet. Not one person clapped or made any sound at all. Patti said, "That was for the moon. The moon does not need to applaud. The moon just smiles down." She looked around the room and asked, "So you doin’ all right tonight? Everybody fine?" Now everyone applauded, loudly. Patti asked, "Was that for me?"

Maybe you had to be there.

<b>Perfect Moon</b>

perfect moon
I am calling
perfect moon
clad impure
I approach
your naked neck
barefoot
baying
perfect moon

perfect moon
I am with you

perfect moon
I adore
surrendering
to thy great
hands
I am yours
perfect moon

The TGL does not need to applaud. The TGL just smiles down.

It actually took me until _right_now_ to get Travis's joke.
