"What’s got the Beastie Boys so fired up? They know that if KFC treated dogs and cats the way that it treats the nearly 800 million chickens who are killed each year for its restaurants, the company would be facing felony cruelty-to-animals charges." Hello...we don't EAT dogs and cats at KFC.

You can't be that certain that you're only getting chicken. ---- What the hell is popcorn chicken, by the way? Looks like the crud we used to dredge from the Frialators(tm) at The 'Vane.

very true, and I agree. BUT: Of all the battles out there, this is the one that the Beastie Boys chooose? yawn indeed. _______________________________

Popcorn chicken = the little bits from the bottom of the bag of chicken tenders that are too small to sell otherwise. The 'Tigs used to cook 'em up for us. Mmmmmmm.

Glad to see someone's focusing on ethics... After their Tibet campaign. They've been doing a lot of PETA stuff, since the all went vegan in like '97...

I like popcorn...but chicken reminds me of human physiology class in high school...that's when I stopped eating it; I knew that its skin looked like mine under the microscope and just couldn't do it. By the way, I believe that's 300!

Posted by Miriam on 2005-07-26 19:19:56 +0000
nope...NOW it's 300

If everyone (or anyone) on the RSN list can admit they like Ad Rock, MCA and Mike D more now as opposed to circa 1986-1989 I promise I will never say anything negative about them again. _______________________________

So: We're damned if we agree with a musician's political stance if said musician is really good at music because politics is outside of their scope of work. And: We're damned if we agree with a musician's political stance if said musician has let the musical quality drop off to focus on other non-music related areas.

Question: when was the last time any of us ate at KFC? (me? 1999)

Posted by frame609 on 2005-07-26 19:48:59 +0000
Can't even remember. Not sure if I ever have.

PICK YOUR BATTLES! --- Since the US tends to yawn and flip channels when confronted with the astonishing rate at which Iraqi civilians are being killed per day, while ostensibly under our protection, I can see why the plight of the lowly chicken doesn't make a big squawk.

Pre-1996. Freshman year of college ('92-'93), definitely. Black Students of Bursley Hall gathering. I kid you not.

Niggaz ran this Kike out of the building before I got to participate in such cultural events... Nevertheless, the last time for me was sometime in college as well, can't remember. But I went to Taco Bell around 2000 and they're owned by the same company... Much to my chagrin, I discover that the holding company, Yum!, owns A&W... I knew about the other brands... damn, I _like_ A&W.

I went to the KFC/TacoBell in Inman Sq. in about Nov. of '99. I got a "number 13 meal" which includes a chicken breast and wing, two soft tacos and a drink for like $4.49. I promptly threw up an hour later. That was my last KFC, however I went to Taco Bell as recently as 13 days ago...

The last time I had Taco Bell was December 2001 in Philadelphia. Cinnamon twists = hell yeah.

I think I had a biscut maybe 5 years ago. Besides that, I think it was in the mid-1980s at the JCC pool in Knoxville.

In college I ran a boycott that included PepsiCo, which at the time owned both KFC and Taco Bell. Those were dark days on the road trying to find vegetarian food that was cheap. Even had a protest in front of the Taco Bell on BU's campus. My best friend from high school lived upstairs and she refused to come see me during the protest. It was great.

I feel like I just ate a biscuit...

My last memory of KFC-- family trip in the van to Washington DC. I think I was probably 10. (which was a LONG time ago) We watched fireworks in a park in Cherry Hill (I think), and ate KFC out of the family bucket. My dad tried to figure out the 'B' function on his manual camera. None of the photos came out. . I remember thinking that it really was 'finger lickin' good,' and the fireworks were the best I'd ever seen up until that point. . I stopped eating chicken about 15 years ago, and didn't eat it when I saw my second favorite fireworks-- stoned in Portsmouth overlooking the lake near some school. . These fireworks were supposed to be timed to piped in music, but they all backfired and went off right near the launching area. It was really exciting. We (me and Beckybunny) thought it was fantastic even after everyone told us that it was the worst Portsmouth fireworks disaster in history. ________________ --Feminazi
