Bush != Reagan^2

I completely disagree that George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan share any political or philosophical heritage. G lib seems to imply that Bush is just an extreme version of Reagan. I don't see that. Reagan was often asking for "God Bless America", hwoever, Reagan was not beholden to the christian fundamentalists the way Bush is. Reagan (after some cajoling) raised taxes. I think when Reagan died, the love-fest was a bit overblown. Whatever his shortcomings, Reagan did lead the US out of the "national dispair" that was the late '70s. That's not something I see Bush being capable of.

Jack Kemp, Steve Forbes, Ronald Reagan, Bill Weld et. al seem to be very different animals then what is molded as "republican" right now... _______________________________

I blame the GOP leadership... and Steve Forbes actually is a different species...

Bill Weld was never welcome in Jesse Helms's Grand Old Party. rladew, if I may be so bold, assuming that you find Kemp, Weld, and Forbes admirable.... you're a Northeastern Republican!
