Shellac / Wilco / Tortoise / Chicago DVD
Per the latest <a href="http://www.dischord.com">DISCHORD</a> update,
The <a href="http://www.trixiedvd.com"</a>Chicago "Burn to Shine" TRIXIE DVD</a> will be out late in August.
The press photos for Shellac display the scariest vision of <a href ="http://www.trixiedvd.com/btspress/bts02photos/shellac01.jpg">Todd Trainer</a> I have yet to see...
The Shellac song captured seems to be a new one! <a href ="http://www.trixiedvd.com/shop.html"> Steady As She Goes</a>

Let's be straight here, who are you talking about in particular?

Damning bands because of the ilk they spawn is sorta like damning Horatio Alger for every half-ass tire repair shop and hair salon.

My copy of <a href="http://www.trixiedvd.com">Burn to Shine vol 2. Chicago</a> Just came in the mail.
First impressions on my partial viewing:
Shellac: "Steady As She Goes" Sonically like their other stuff. If yr tired of the shellac formula, don't look for too many variations here. If you like rock solid repetitive rip yr face/skull drum/bass foundation with shrapnel in yr spine jangly guitar overlay peppered with start/stop dynamics, you will want to hear it.
Wilco: J.Tweedy looks like he hasn't slept in years... The dynamics and arrangement / instrumentation on "Muzzle of Bees" is awesome, and I think Nels Cline's Helmetish guitar solo with lots of feedback/sheets of sound is an interesting added element to an already intriguing mixture of keys, acoustic guitars, bass, vocals etc that Wilco usually delivers.
Video/Sound Quality:
AMAZING. Supposedly shot in HD, so if you have a 16:9 Tv: LOOKOUT! (I saw it on a 4:3 Sony flat screen tube TV that has progressive scan inputs. - The mole on Todd trainer will scar you for life... seriously though, the colors such as the faded green that adorns the decaying wall of the soon-to-be-torn-down house in Chicago was some of the highest detail I have yet to see on my home setup.
The audio is both in stereo and a seperate 5.1 surround presentation. I personally thought the 5.1 sounded a little processed, but the stereo was strong and clean.
currently converting an audio copy through my minidisc player- give a holler if you'd like a CD-R copy to hear in yr car/walkman/whatever...
