6 F.U. appresh

Not sure if 'jake Schulz' is appropo, but Rawk and Bosox certaintly weren't. I do wanna give frame 609 a chance to catch up before any season 5 spoilers are given, but it is high time we had a 6 Feet Under thread. My fave character was always Arthur (the guy who plays the Gareth Keenan character in the Americanized 'Office' on NBC) 6fu's last show is next week, and I'll be sad to lose all the great characters, music, and storylines... My favorite episode is where all of the Fishers have a garage sale, can't sell their shit and wind up burning it in a huge bonfire on the Lawn scored to Radiohead's 'Lucky'.

My dad taped about half of the final season for me.

Most of the board doesn't have cable...or watch TV other than PBS. I used to have cable, but still don't have my TV here at all. By the way, I'm a HUGE fan and am heartsick not to have seen the last 2 episodes. Looking forward to the spoiler, though, as I won't remember when I see it anyway. :)

Netflix is the new Cable. I should add 6FU to my queue. There was a great article in the BG Ideas section a couple months ago how technologies have time shifted the viewing experience. It used to be if you wanted to view a show, you had to schedule your day or week around it. With the VCR that changed. With technologies like TiVO and services like Netflix, it's changed again. I've never seen an original airing of Six Feet Under. However, for a couple bucks, I can watch an entire season in one sitting. Even the time breaks normally associated with commercials (if there were any) and the 7 days between episodes disappear. Campaign for Real Time. Now more than ever. (Or, in the past more than the future?)

I read that article, too. the "extended time shift" viewing strategy is a good one. Im not trying to brag about having souped up cable or anything. I just thought peeps on the board would (if access became available) be interested in checking it out. In the times of my life w/ only basic cable, my ADD or whatever makes it difficult to remember which show I started watching when I start flipping during commercials or painfully bad moments, so for $12 USD or whatever, I can watch shows I like without being bombarded by asking me about the "not so fresh feeling" or whatever. (Plus I get to see the same bad film from the 80's in different stages of the film over and over all month long: I dont think Ive ever seen one move more times in a partial or truncated form than 'Top Gun'... shows like Twin Peaks, the Wire, Deadwood, band of Brothers, Homicide (which was an NBC show I believe) cry out for this extended viewing practice so you dont miss subplots, character nuances, etc. _______________________________

We just signed up for Netflix. We have cable. The only TV show I really watch is Red Sox Games, and if I miss anything it's in the paper the next day.

Don't forget about the Gilmore Girls.

Yeah, we watch that, too.

Just when I thought the show couldn't get any better it did, 6FU has been making leftist political statements throughout its 5 season run, but it seems as if 6FU has wholeheartedly invited "Ted The Republican" into the cast and the show treats him as a respectable human being... Good for Claire hanging out with someone so jarringly "unhip" _______________________________

I'm surrounded by W'04 bumper stickers and a goodly number of Republican Jews...which is a new thing for me. Harder to get used to than driving 45 miles an hour down a main street.
