The MBTA can shove it.
So I flew back from Austin last night via Dallas and had an hour and a half delay because planes were being re-routed to boston in the wake of Katrina.
Upon arriving at Logan, I caught one of those shuttle busses to the T. There were no human beings manning the Blue Line stop, just these machines that accept credit cards only. No cash.
So I had to charge a buck and a quarter to my card to get on the fucking train. Fucking progress? Whatever.

If we DO have to have a ticket-based system, let it be a stileless system like the Germans have, where you simply buy (and validate) your ticket, and walk right onto the train without passing through any gates.
Please God don't let them put us on a system like the London Metro, where you have to pass your ticket through the machines not only before boarding but after disembarking as well.
