RIP

First Lounge Ax in chi town, now <a href="http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/news/05-09/01.shtml">CBGB's</a> in the Bowery NYC.

Yet another supportive argument to buy instead of lease...

whats the title of the Queers song? "I Spent The Rent"???

ho hum...

The sad thing is that the homeless coalition that owned the place was fighting so hard to push out CBGB. You'd think they'd want to fight gentrification harder than a rundown rock venue.

It could be argued that CBGB's spread the gentrification of the East Village.

It could be argued that Jacques (in the south end) brought a lot of gays to that neighborhood, who then turned around and tried to kick out Jacques last year.

I have a feeling that the trannies who frequent Jacques are not the same people as those who bought all the brownstones.

Also, not all trannies are gay.

17 year olds from Jersey, "Anytown"-on-the-Hudson, and Connecticut don't always go to the mall for their CBGB's T-shirts, and sometimes they even go to shows. Plus, I wasn't talking about yuppies.
