I heard from an old family friend that he's doing a large sculpture for the public library in Laconia, NH. Of course, I asked him if there will be motorcycles on it. He said, "No."

Just barely. Mourning in my family seems to be a tag team event. At least it wasn't as painful as my grandfather's funeral; this time we knew what to expect.

LEIBOWITZ, SYLVIA RICHER — age 88 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 8, 2005 at her home. She was a member of Heska Amuna Synagogue and the sisterhood. She was a life time member of the Knoxville Chapter of Hadassah and the Arnstein Jewish Community Center and the Knoxville Jewish Federation. She was a B'nai Brith Youth Organization Advisor, former P.T.A. President and Tanasi Girl Scout Leader. She is preceded in death by: parents, Joseph and Gussie Richer; and her beloved husband Harold Leibowitz. She is survived by: daughters and sons-in- law, Margaret Anne and Gale Hedrick, Mary Beth Leibowitz and Dr. Michael Eisenstadt; son, Lawrence Paul Leibowitz; brother and sister-in-law, David and Fannie Richer; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Wahid Hanna and his Staff for their kindness and compassionate care during this time and illness. Family and friends will meet by 1:15 p.m. Friday at New Jewish Cemetery for a 1:30 p.m. graveside service with Rabbi Louis Zivic officiating. Pallbearers: Adam Michael Leibowitz, Joshua Daniel Hedrick, Jesse David Hedrick, Ronald Richer, Dan Glazer, Michael Burnett, Sidney Burnett and Hal Manas. Note that my mom, Kay, and me and my sister, and the three great grandkids are completely left out while relatives so distant they are barely considered relatives are mentioned in this obit that ran the afternoon of Grandma's passing (9/9/05).
