During my beautiful afternoon of good friends, good beer, good loitering @ Fenway and extremely bad baseball, I bought a Sunday Globe which I promptly ignored until right about now.

While there's lots of jazz leanings in his work, his newer stuff features rearrangements of Sun Ra / Funkadelic tunes,as well as a minimalist group called FME (playing in Cambridge on Thursday) which draws on minimalist rock influences such as (no, I'm not making this up)
