Dives of East Boston #1
Trainor's Cafe': 129 Maverick Street - East Boston, MA
Review:
Last Wednesday around 11:00, BQ and I stopped by for a nightcap at Trainor's on his way back to Maverick Station.
Decor-- Long rectangular, open room, high barstools facing the bar on the left, five obligatory cracked vinyl booths patched with ducttape on the right. BQ and I sat in the booth as people filtered out to the back alleyway to smoke cigarettes. I didn't try the restroom, but BQ said it was a trip.
Clientele-- There were about 4-5 regulars, all sitting at the bar, both men and women.
Victuals-- They had Bud and something light on tap, but a full drink selection. We ordered two buds, and they came in large cafeteria-style plastic glasses-- think something you would get in kindergarten.
Entertainment-- The bar was pretty unadorned, only two small TV are the decorations, that and one dartboard. No one was playing darts.
Smell-- Pretty rank, less like pee, more like mansweat.
Overall-- A pretty classic dive-- I would definitely go back.
