G-162
I wish this game meant something, even if Cleveland looses. Tie the Yankees record, but loose the seed? TGl's right, very NFL.
The MFY pulled Jeter?
Manny 9 HR in last 12 games? It'd be sweet if he was hot for the playoffs...

It's weird to clinch the wildcard during the 6th inning of the last game of the season.
I think this game is very important. It's for honor. They can walk away knowing they're as good as the MFY.

Actually if the sox win, MFY may have to go to LA, then New York, then LA for a game 5, if the Angels win today (7-4 in the 8th).
3 AL teams go 95-67? Pretty good.
Having the AL East being decided by the season series' record seems fair enough. It came down to one game, either way.
Anyone prefer to paly the Angels? With the Wild Card, winning the division is not as important; just like any other sports league these days, it's all about getting to the playoffs not necessarily being the top seed in the playoffs. As I'm sure everyone knows by now, the 2002, 2003, and 2004 WS winners were all Wild Card entries.

The White Sox are a much better draw for us than the Angels.

What a difference a year makes.

I wasn't satisfied at all by the World Series win. Winning a silly little tournament at the end of the year is nice, but in my time, losing to the Yankees is worse than not winning the World Series. I want the division. I want it for a couple of years in a row.

I guess it's in retrospect, but having the best record out of 162 games out of five teams seems like a monumental accomplishment at the moment.
Is there a tally somewhere of the team with the best regular season record each year? Are the Yankees still tops in that category, too?
