For what reasons?
Is it becuase she's managed to cause more consternation in the GOP (Griping crOny Party) than on the left?

She is going to be a moderate thru and thru. Eliza called her "Laura's pick".
I think Miers befriended Bush for professional gain (she would have buddied up to Gore if he won, Drudge reports she gave Gore campaign money), and now that she's going to have a lifetime role with no possibilty of firing, she's going to swing back to a moderate.

Regardless of her political leanings, I'm a bit dismayed that she's evidently the most qualified legal scholar out there that fits the mould that Bush had in mind (female, "strict constructionist", etc.). Surely, a candidate with more impressive credentials exist. While I think it's sort of a joke that nearly every elected leader and appointed judge went to Harvard or Yale, I'm not exactly thrilled that the exception to the norm is a scholar from Southern Methodist University. (If that's elitist, than yeah, that's me).
