Good Buy
The sport of furniture-buying brought me to almost all of the dozen or so antique stores along 8th Ave South on Wednesday afternoon (day off for Sukkot). At the last two stores, I found the items I picked up today.
1) Awesome gold and green upolstered wooden chair with arms. Way fabulous, and just under $75. It's in pretty good condition, with a few worn spots here and there, but is my new favorite thing.
2) Enormous dining room table with three leaves. The woman who sold it to me thought that it might be mahogany from the grain. All I can say is it's one heavy piece of table. It has clean lines and thinnish legs. Eventually I'll strip the whole thing and stain it, but for now it's great.
Next item I need to find: a set of 8-10 dining room chairs!
