I think I might have made a couple of friends!

Last night I went to a new-Jews-in-Nashville mixer and found a couple of cool people. One is a banjo player, Noam, who used to play with Leftover Salmon, a band I was into for a while...when he was still in middle school. The other is this woman who is a speech pathology fellow at Vanderbilt Hospital, Amy, who moved here from Boston the same time I did. The three of us are going to get a rockin' game of Trivial Pursuit going. Noam is convinced he'll kick our asses. He has another thing comin'!

Amy, the doc in training, just emailed to say how much fun we had last night! I can't wait to have people to chill with again. 'Bout time, too.

I'm on the road to it. Still have to get some chairs for my dining room table. Actually, if there are only 4-5 people, it wouldn't matter. I could put all the food on the table and everyone could sit on the love-seat, rad chair, rocker and butterfly. I could also pull a 3 Homer Sq and have folks sit on trunks and toy chests with blankets folded over the top for a little cushion. Last night Amy invited me to a birthday fete for one of her co-workers. I went to the restaurant where it was going on, and was reminded of high school. I was one of two women there with brown hair. there were about 10 with blond. They couldn't stop talking about Greek life, and at first I was excited that they were so ethnic. Soon it became clear that it was a different kind of Greek life; sororities and fraternities. Those are big down here...along with college football. Okay, football in general. It was fun, though. Good to get out on a Saturday night.
