Da Bears (w/o Thornton)
Yo, Mike F. (raps):
Were you also at that Red Sox game which was the first one after they traded _________?
This morning I passed the "pro shop" in the Old Fleetcenter where there was a fetching poster of Joe Thornton gazing lovingly over a hockey skate. On my way to catch the 6:10 Rockport train, it was gone. They work fast.
Does one's Joe Thorton signed Bruins jersey go up or down in value? Is the fact that I bought Joe T a 12-pack of Corona summer of '98 when he was 19, living at the Hynes's house in Brookline, a better or worse story?
Not to get all 'Antiques-Road-Show'/raging capitalist on your ass, but I realized that my used ticket stubs to '04 Red Sox games are actually worth something. I'd say ten years from now, my stub to Monday, August 9th, 2004's loss to Tampa Bay (Orlando 1 for 4 in his first game / first game at home since beating the Yankees pre-All-Star-Game on July 25th) will be worth ten bucks. Right?
The records indicate that I was also at Clemens's 299th win on 5/21/03, and at an Ortiz walkoff game on 9/23/03, which is still the best game I ever saw- Walker hit the 2RHR with 2 outs and two strikes in the ninth to tie it. Me and BQ saw Clemens' last regular season AL appearance on 8/31/03, the day where we threw him the bird every time he pitched from the stretch. For the record, the final was was NYY 8, Sox 4.
Pretty cool to see an important-ish Bruins game like this- they looked good, and one of the new guys got both a goal and assist. I told Ethan that I was in for the season if they won, so let it be known: I'm in for the season.
"BRUINS FRONT OFFICE (-11) over Bruins Fans.
Joe Thornton to San Jose for three random dudes? And you wonder why I bailed on this franchise in the '90s. Others weren't so lucky."
