The AFC East is...

*The weakest division in the league *5-20 in road games (the Bills and Jets have no wins away) *Not going to take home the Lombardi trophy *Home of your New England Patriots

Weak, yes. But hang on a second there, I'd say a lot of the AFC divisions aren't particularly strong. Check out the AFC South: The Colts get to beat up the Texans and Titans and toy with the Jaguars (admittedly a team on the upswing). AFC North has some patsies too: the Ravens are terrible this year, the Browns aren't particularly great and the Steelers are in a rapid decline. NFC West is the home of the 49ers, Cardinals, and Rams. Now theres some shitty teams. Might as well change my post-season projections: AFC 1. Colts 2. Bengals 3. Broncos 4. Patriots 5. Jaguars 6. Chargers NFC 1. Seahawks 2. Bears 3. Panthers 4. Giants 5. Buccaneers 6. Vikings My pre-season projection for a Pats/Vikes Superbowl is still a remote possibility.

Bengals/Seahawks Superbowl!

Man, that would be amazing.

The Bengals are basically the Colts without the sense of entitlement. I would be shocked if they won a game in the post-season. But they've been getting better every year by leaps and bounds. Certainly, a team to watch out for in the coming years. As much as I hate to say this, I sincerely hope the Colts make it to the Superbowl, only then to get the absolute shit kicked out of them by the NFC team. The NFC will be tested the hardest rather than the Colts and their relatively cushy road to XL. And you can't rule out those character building games. Besides, if the Colts make it to the Superbowl, perfect record or not, and tank it it'll be great because Manning will never hear the end of that honk job. Plus, the loser of the Superbowl generally takes years to fully recover. Wouldn't that be great to see the Colts eat shit for years?

Imagine how big the Peyton Face will be if they go 16-0 and then blow it in the Super Bowl. He'll be the biggest paper tiger ever.

Manning could win a Championship in the XFL... Wait, scratch that... maybe the CFL.

"Super Bowl XL" is a marketing executives wet dream.

It's great to see the Pats get their swagger back. Like I've said before, a very entertaining year of football from a Pats fan perspective. They spoiled us last couple years; this year, everything's up for grabs, we look mortal, and therefore the drama is back. Waaay more entertaining (vs. Steelers, just to name one great game). Are there any Colts fans who think this is an entertaining season for them? I can see maybe the Pats game was vindicating, but other than that...?

I'm sure the Indy fans are enjoying the drama of "Can they win every game?"

Posted by frame609 on 2005-12-12 17:53:14 +0000
And the rest of the country is enjoying the drama of waiting for the biggest Peyton face ever.

Is there _really_ any drama to this Pats season? Injuries have been dramatic. However, didn't we all know that they'd get beat up the first 8 games and then cruise into the playoffs with a string of victories in the last 8?

At the beginning of the season there was all this talk of the Pats repeating- the injuries this year were worse than anyone could have expected.

Aside from the NE/Bills blow out, the AFC East actually took steps towards repsectablity again. Not only did Miami and the Jets cover the spread, they BOTH WON!!! (Miami, away, against San Diego? Did anyone see that coming? Seriously, Nostradamus? Jimmy the Greek? Christ?)

Miami is going to be a really great team soon. Once they figure out a good quarterback, look out. Really the only serious threat to the Pats in the forseeable future.

Oh yes. I'd point to the Steelers and Falcons games as high drama.

Looking forward to tonight's game actually...
