Reading about the inevitable singularity got me to thinking about this great book I read a little while back called
Teleportation by David Darling. Not only did it freak me out with its explanations of the future of quantum computing, but it gave me a basic and decent understanding of quantum mechanics. It's not a book about "Beam me up, Scotty" teleportation, but rather the more immediate impact of the ability to teleport electrons, and eventually to teleport large amounts of information in this manner. The chapters concerning information theory and cryptology were really enlightening, from espionage to day-to-day use of the internet. A short read, and well worth while.
