The Lion, the Witch and the Waste of my Time

Decent movie, but I wish I went to Kong instead.

No, you don't.

I went to a movie yesterday, which I liked, but I can't remember what it was. Or was it two days ago? Seriously, that's weird. I hadn't smoked or drank anything or swallowed anything that would result in total loss of two hours of my life. Wait. I remember now. It was "Fun with Dick and Jane." Honestly, I liked it. The best part was the credits, though. They thank some very interesting people, and it's a humorous commentary on a not so funny thing going on in the US.

alright, I wish I saw Harry Potter or Walk the Line

huh? I thought Kong kicked butt.

Potter is a little scary, but pretty good. Walk the Line is one of my faves of this movie season.

I saw Kong with Eliza and BQ last week. Some parts were unbearable, but the T-Rex/Kong fight sequence was stunning (my favorite CGI scene ever?). Jackson has lost his master-stroke. Just because it's fantasy doesn't mean all logic should be thrown out. I would give it a C-, and I think I liked it the most out of the three of us.

I guess I was disappointed the Lion, The Witch and whatever because I read the book when I was a kid and it blew my mind. The 70's version of kong was cool. If not only for the love interest.

I've always liked the 70's cartoon of 'The Lion, the Witch and the whatever'.

never saw it. The seventies is a tough decade to follow.

C-? Wow. BQ is rubbing off on you. :) Seems like you two are honing your criteria for what makes a good film. No complaints here, If you are absolutely merciless, only the best of the best get through. Im sure we all can think of too many examples of any type of media receiving a deafening amount of hype and praise for less than justified reasons. I would agree that Kong was way too long (see my review in the Gorilla / padded seats thread), and what was presented in this length would have been a much more palatable (and enjoyable IMHO) experience on a special edition DVD. the Brontosaurus stampedes, the NYC scenes towards the end, the title cards at the beginning and ending, the recreation of depression era NY and of vaudeville, were all very commendable things in this film. From this viewer's eyes: B+ in the way it was presented, A- if it was shaved down a little more.

Wasn't that when "The Hobbit" came out in cartoon, too? Totally rocked my world.

I think I liked the cartoon version interpretation of Frodo better than the movie.

He was more believable.

The talking trees weren't believable?
