A so-so band, but only 'prog' in their attire.

Damn you for making me choose!

I think this is a no-brainer, I can't believe how many of you have no brain.
Although it is true, BQ3K, that these bands have a combined 10 great hits betwixt them, Yes's hits are their good songs and Rush's hits are their commercially palatable songs.
Also, although recent concerts have proven that both of these bands currently suck, Rush sucks in a "we're trying to do new things and failing" sort of way, and Yes sucks in a "the audience is embarassed for us" sort of way.
Rush has also not broken up, nor changed their lineup with the exception of a new drummer after their eponymous album.

OK, I still have no idea which one you like more.

Cheap Trick had a few good records before "The Flame".

Man, I love Cheap Trick from that era.

Sorry, Rush Rules!

Four observations:
(1) I don't know how many times I've heard drummers claim that Rush was awesome because their drummer is technically proficient. This is like claiming my aunt Claire would be an excellent novelist because she types really really well.
(2) Rule of thumb: All great songs are under 4 minutes. Some exceptions, not many.
(3) Rule of thumb: If your drummer or bassist is notable in any way, your band probably sucks. Exceptions: Beatles, Van Halen, That chick from the Lenny Kravitz video.
(4) Cheap Trick rules.
