infant nephew in hospital

If any of y'all believe in a higher power of some kind, please give a shout out for my nephew who's in hospital for the rest of the week on oxygen and IV. He's got a respiratory infection and may need surgery to repair his trachea once he's feeling better so that his lungs can form normally (right now his trachea collapses every time he takes a breath and his chest caves, too). Daniel Alexandre Leibowitz is his name if you need it.

Just got back from a short visit to the hospital. Daniel doesn't look very healthy. He's still on oxygen and has an IV in his left foot. My sister-in-law wouldn't let me hold him. She also seemed kind of pissed that I would stop by. Whatever. I just want him to get better. They're hoping his virus and ear infection will clear up soon so he can have surgery. He was really struggling for breath. Hard to watch. He was also really lethargic. Ugh.

Spent three hours visiting with my sis-in-law and nephew last night. It was hard to watch the nurse thump his lungs clear for 20 minutes each side. Had to hold the oxygen up to his face while he took a bottle. First time he'd eaten since 3am! Must've been my influence. ;)

Today he's off oxygen. That's all I know for now.

By the way, seeing a sick baby is heartbreaking. When he started to perk-up on my way out, it was a huge relief.

He's back on O2 and IV and they think he has a collapsed lung now. Ugh.

He's Home! Thanks for all your good wishes and support. Glad to not have anyone to visit in hospital anymore! He's got another 3 weeks to fully recover, and hopefully that will go well...but at least he's off oxygen and IV!
