Maybe the Dolls are all that and a bag of chips
Last weekend I caught the Dresden Dolls at the Lizard Lounge. They played a Shelley Winters Project tune ("Hate") to cap off the Rick Berlin CD release shows. It was totally devastating, in the good, mind-blowing way. I'd only heard the DD's tune "Coin Operated Boy," and didn't like it so much, but it turns out they do put on a pretty damn intense live show. It was really nice, too, that it was at the Lounge, where I feel like I'm checking out a band in a friend's living room. Other highlights of the show were the Neighborhoods (whose surprise cover of "Melt With You" was surprisingly not at all cheesy), Giant Sand, and Humanwine.
