Looks like fielding is not considered?
I think you should continue to make selections contrary to all convential wisdom. Mariano's not exactly a wasted first round pick, is it?

Got some rosters for us?
Posted by tendiamonds on 2006-03-22 08:54:39 +0000
We're putting the "slow" in "slow draft"... as of right now, we're not through the first round... some managers aren't on the ball to take their pick and a time limit hasn't been instituted...
So far, for the folks in the league you know, TGL has Vladdy, my brother has Ortiz, Chris (The Commish) has Santana and I have Rivera.
To address TGL's comment, no, this was not a wasted pick. Based on the stats we're playing with, relievers are arguably more valuable than starters, and, as far as relievers go, closers are the tits. Rivera is the top ranked pitcher in our league, and the #6 player overall.
Wait until you see my second round pick.
Unbelievable.
I'll have to settle for Trevor Hoffman.

So there's no requirement that a roster be "playable"? If your whole team is closers (which also means they get coffee...) that's OK?

Nah, I'm going to need to field a team at some point, and many would caution me that my offence is going to suffer. But my strategy is closer to that which BH recommended, get yourself some aces. I speculate that closers are more important than Aces, and they are fewer and farer between.

With all due respect:
The Chairs lack an ace- and this coming from a guy who has Cliff Lee on BOTH fantasy league teams. Plenty of relief, and a few starters who seem perpetually on the brink of breakout success. Hitting seems a little light- Sexson is a perpetual injury risk.
Gin Tasters have a very good starting five, and both power and speed. Thome and Glaus are both injury risks, too.

I believe, that due to the statistics our league is using, relievers are more important than starters. So I spent earlier picks getting a stronger pen. I also think stolen bases are disproportionally valuable, hence Figgins and Reyes... we'll see how it weighs in, Tasters and Chairs go head to head in week one.

Your statistic-based system may hold weight- I'm interested to see how yr. season shakes down.

This is brutal, my starting shortstop (Jimmy Rollins) needs a hit to keep is streak alive against my starting pitcher (Chris Carpenter).

My starting SS (Reyes) went 0/5, but his (my) closer got the win but my starter lost... I'm so confused. I think I'm unhappy about that.
