Strother Martin Apreesh

Well, maybe the Paul Newman and Strother Martin Apreesh... After purchasing the film "Slapshot", I realized Strother Martin is in this (almost Caddyshack) classic as well. What a duo!!! Cool Hand Luke, Butch and Sundance, AND Slapshot. Awesome run...

What we've got here is... failure to communicate!

Oh, and Slapshot really is a bad movie.

...but I really like it.

For example: after the Beckett and Taveras incidents last week, I kept saying, "Old time baseball... for coach!"

I don't think "Slapshot" is that bad. It reminds me of "Fast Times", in that it is written by a women for teenage boys. The female characters are well developed and interesting. While "Caddyshack" has more sketch comedy and perhaps more laughs, it doesn't exactly contain female characters. The Hanson brothers in "Slapshot" are also one of those things that are so innately awkward, you can just sense Newman having a good time on the set. Favorite exchange: Newman giving a pep talk during the first intermission of a game, "Come on, guys, we're better than these guys, let's just play hard-" Hanson #1, "Stick 'em!" Hanson #2, "Fuck 'em!" Hanson #3, "Pop 'em!" Pause as Newman looks over at the Hansons. Newman, "It's been a tough season. We've got a lot of losses-" Hanson #1 "We got a lot of losses!" Hanson #2 "Lot's of losses!"
