I generally wind up liking the idea of hip-hop better than hip-hop itself, but man, what a fantastic album "Fishscale" is. Wow!

beg / borrow / steal a copy of the new vice "Food" issue -
Ghost starts talking about drinking tap water, fine wines, and eating carrot cakes hilarious stuff - Ill try finding the quote.
I love the Wu track on this fishscale:
"the Rat Pack is back from the Island of Stat"

Vice or Ghost or both? ;)

Fishscale is not available on vinyl until 04/11 (I need to listen to soundclips). There's a Sergio Mendes remix record I have to pick up before it sells out again so I added a copy of Vice.

New favorite activity after I get home from work and Maddie is in bed:
cracking a cold one, popping in FISHSCALE and going to OHHLA so I can follow along at home with the Ghost...

Ghostface, at this point in his career, has become the Al Pacino of rap. His best work is behind him. He's given so much to the craft, in both innovation and inspiration, that there's literally nothing more that he can give. He's coasting on what made him "Ghostface," verging on self-parody with the occasional moments of brilliance. His new work is entertaining, workmanlike, but by no means essential.
It's time to pull out "Supreme Clientelle" and be wiggers all over again.

Heard Ghostface on the radio Sat. nite while escaping Manhattan at 3AM. Marly Marl was on the decks and "entertaining, workmanlike, but not essential" is a good description of the performance. BTW, he's @ Paradise on Thurs.
