Spring here seems to have brought more than just lots of pollen and tornadoes here.

I'm thinking I probably should've added having the inspection onto this, and picking the wrong mortgage option only to be called by your dad two hours later, when he's spoken with the mortgage guy, to be told you should've chosen the option you thought was no good. Ah, being second-guessed for your own good...

So, you've got a closing date, I take it? Are congratulations due on your offer being accepted?

Offer was accepted. Closing is April 28. Inspection was this morning. There is termite damage in the garage that the owner will have to spray and fix. The hot water heaters wouldn't work, even though they're 2003 and 2005 (one for the house, one for the garage laundry room). The HVAC system is about 20 years old but works great. The electrical box needs to be grounded. The roof has three layers, but should last 5-10 years...but I'll have to have the entire thing removed then.
Basically, everything's a go! I just need a ladder to clean the gutters, some paint to seal some windowsills, a lawn mower, a stove, washer and dryer, and some caulk.
I'm signing some financial papers this evening. Terrifying.

Just got the inspection back; it's 19 pages long! Good thing a lot of it is repetitive...and photos.

So glad there were no photos in our inspection. The inspector disappeared for about 15 minutes to "inspect" the upstairs bathroom.

Okay, I've turned down the more interesting, lesser paying job...the day I closed on my house. The hours didn't seem to work for my family needs here.
I was just offered the better-paying job, but while my salary would increase, it would only be because it is a fulltime job based on my current parttime salary. I asked for more, without giving a dollar amount. They'll get back to me but gave me the excuse that they don't have the funds to do that. I think that's bunk since it's a position with more responsibility. Hopefully I'll know what they have to say by later today, and I'll be able to give them an answer by Tuesday.
So crazy!

Wow. Negotiating salaries is fun! I've accepted a new job, still have to figure out a start date, and was able to negotiate a significant salary increase, part of which will happen after a 3 month evaluation period. But, it may mean that I can do some needed bathroom renovations, AND buy a new car (don't tell Ovlov).
