What's the result of a Rumble event? Do our interpid time adventurers know why Scamper was voted to the next level?
What did C4RT lack that Scamper had? Since I didn't see Scamper, I'm sort of at a loss, but if C4RT lacked non-ironic Weezer identification; well, they're fucked, right?

I listened to some Scamper last night- well-crafted pop, no more or less.

I guess the "national" act to pull an additional draw to the Middle East that night is Dave Grohl's drummer Taylor Hawkins (the dude in the yellow shirt) and his new band.
Should be a good time!
Just ordered my ticket online...

Eliza thinks Scamper sounds a lot like the Rudds after listening to BCN last night. Could work in C4RT's favor...

He kinda looks like a happier version of Cobain.

This shit's a dick measuring contest. Basically, there's five judges who rate each band on a scale of 1-10 in five categories: Material/Songwring, Playing Effectiveness, Vocal Effectiveness, Timing, Presentation. They also can award up to 5 additional points based on however the judges deem fit. (F'r instance, I know that one judge gave us 5 points on Sunday just because we had a Moog). The judges also rank from first to last how they felt the bands did.
Shred adds up all the points and the band with most points wins. However, in an effort to remove bias, they deduct the highest and lowest points from each band and then total the points. If the same band wins again, they're the winner. If they have a different winner, they use first place votes to break the tie.
FWIW: Sunday we had only one first place vote and the emo band had two. Friday, we had only one first place vote and Appomattox and Scamper both had two first place votes.
I believe that some of our friends were a little to violent while we were partying/dancing and that pissed off a lot of the judges. So please, next time, when you go see us, don't drink a fucking handle of vodka, blow rails, and threaten to beat the fuck out of the wimpy people there.

Does every night have it's own set of judges? Or do they get recycled?

Oh, and is the wild card a selection based on the point totals from the total round, or is it a dispensation from Shred?
Posted by bizquig3000 on 2006-04-18 16:58:04 +0000
I've heard three conflicting pieces of information based on how the wild cards are selected. The criteria were: the band that came closest to winning their night that didn't, the band that didn't win their night but had the most first place votes, or the band that Shred felt would have made the most well-rounded bill.
We lost to Scamper by 3 points, so I'm assuming it was the first reasoning.
It's supposed to be different judges every night. T Max from the Noise was a judge on both nights we played, and the only reason for the recycle was that the fifth judge on Friday was either disqualified or couldn't do it, so Shred went to the alternate judge (T). FWIW: he gave us our single first place vote on the Sunday, he gave the first place nod to Scamper on Friday.
