Mystery Jets

Pitchfork weighs in on my find of 2006 (so far) with a pfft measly 7.7. Should have been at least an 8.0 plus. Wholeheartedly recommended to all the prog rock headz up in this piece (and that means I'm pointing to you dawnbixtler, cdubrocker, Honar the Librarian, and tendiamonds)

Thanks bq3000, will have to check that out. Is pitchfork all that reliable anymore? I used to go there for album recommendations until they stopped ringing true...and when the snark got too overwhelming to read on a daily basis. And anyone who needs to accentuate their point in a review by completing it with "(hardee-f**king-har)" is hardly worth reading or taking seriously.

I did that poll last year and found that on average, they gave records sevens, or something like that. I kinda stopped reading it.

I hear you with Pitchfork as a reliable vis-a-vis reliable album recommendations. But c'mon. Have I lead you astray with the grime and The Avalanches, and The Books?

I buy (and love) everything you recommend, BQ. Keep it up!

Oh, I am totally running out and buying MJs at lunch today! Your word = 1000x pitchfork's word.

is 679 affiliated with the Vice label? I think there is an MJ track in the CD/DVD sampler (along with the Streets, natch) that came with my new issue of Vice..

Needed something to put me over 20 to get free shipping (yes, I know I spent 28 bucks to save 4) on Amazon, so picked this up. For the record: my music recommendations are: Apocalypse 91...The Enemy Strikes Black ~ Public Enemy Yo! Bum Rush the Show ~ Public Enemy and Sephardic Romances ~ Galician Traditional and my all product recomendations are : Left Luggage (DVD Krijn ter Braak) Eazy-Duz-It ~ Eazy-E and The Chronic ~ Dr. Dre Also recommended are both 2 Live Jews albums, a bunch of Israeli films, a buttload holocaust DVDs (no business like shoah business) and a bunch of books on eastern orthodox iconography. After refreshing, I'm now getting recommendations for assorted British indie rock as well.

I (proprietary eponym deleted)'d a 1991 Saturday Night Live on E! a week or so ago. Host: Michael Jordan Music: Public Enemy 'Can't Truss It' cameos: Jesse Jackson (reading Dr. Seuss), Norm from cheers, Spike Lee the syndicated version omitted this, but I remember watching this episode live back in High School and PE dedicated a FULL minute of silence to Miles Davis, who had passed on a couple of days before the show. Flav wore a 'Wicked Witch' hat for a good portion of their performance. ....HERE COME THE DRUMS!... Bass in yr face not an 8 track... while we missed out after our meeting w/ Mr. Clint Conley, Carlton Ridenhour aka Chuck D was on the TUFTS campus last night as well. Dawn: is his Air America show still on? When does it air?

It's a super album. Thanks, BQ3k - steered me right again!

Came last night all by its lonesome in a gigantic box (I will probably get another, equally gigantic box with the other cd I ordered today). The Mystery Jets didn't really call out to me on the first run through, and I kept thinking that I really should listen to things before I spend $30 on them, but they improved with each listen.

Third time's a charm.

Roll a spliff on the neat gatefold packaging, it'll enhance your listening experience.
