Number One in Acton

If nothing else counts, the fact the Ed McNamara consistently called out for Cambridge to dance and "what up" Cambridge, made my day. I hate it when bands play the Middle East and make shout-outs to Boston. Let us also remember that I had no idea when to throw my glo-stick. And the free Miller High Life beer coozy. And paper pirate hats. Arrrgh. Oh yeah: Campaign For Real Time wins the 2006 'BCN Rumble. BQ, eat your heart out. Bring on the curse. Thanks for the lights, EHG.

C4RT! C4RT!

Posted by Null Protocol on 2006-04-22 12:05:58 +0000
congrats - I suck big time for not being there. The powers that be @ the Middle East were compensated in advance for my ticket - I hope at least C4RT gets a piece of my $17 ish Ticketmaster (Ticketbastard?) online transaction. I was being held hostage in a flavored coffee making factory or something. Congrats Rory, Lee B, et. al...

Rumble Curse? May I remind all of you we used to have Til Tuesday's practice space, so I think we were already cursed going into the thing. (For those who don't know, Til Tuesday aparently curses the Rumble winner as they're the only band to have ever gone on to do anything after winning it). In no particluar order: firing Nina, no practice space for the first half of the Rumble, scrambling to find a suitable replacement (Mike did fantastic BTW, and was offered the permanent slot if he wants it), James' Dad's near-suicide, the sketchy judging on the semis (and while I'm at it, the humiliating way we got asked to be the wildcard), I had a fever and flu like symptoms on the night of the finals. Phew. I will have a few words with Aimee Mann when we play with her in June regarding lifting this purported "Rumble Curse." Or if I may, with all respect to Pedro Martinez, I'd like to say: "I don't beleive in damn curses. Wake up the damn Aimee Mann and have me face her. Maybe I'll drill her in the ass." They are predictably ripping us a new one on the Noise message board.

I think I detect a touch of theduane in this one. Flu or no flu (SQ and I were not worried, by the way) I thoroughly enjoyed the bit of Tim Harrington channeling with the dangle from the water pipe, and the crowd surfing _after_ the set was over. And the rattled off list of metro-Boston towns where C4RT is number one in, ala, JSBX. Not that the parts that are purely C4RT were not enjoyable either. The rest of the thread on The Noise Board is complimentary, I'd say.

In my defense, I was (and am) in another country. But I *did* wear my C4RT shirt in solidarity. And whilst there was no book-throwing (properly timed or otherwise), I have dropped quite a few things today, which must be solidarity as well. [note: my gist being that C4RT have been dropping knowledge - woo!]

If you start touring with Rev Glasseye, I'm SURE you'll be in Nashville pretty soon!

Big ups! Way to go.

The Globe chimed in, for our out-of-state friends.

is there a photo in the print version?

"...Rory Stark skulking across the stage looking like Max Fischer from 'Rushmore' as a collegiate hipster." I'll take that over $104 of tattooing from the Pinno Bros...

Get in line, pal.

Definitely my fave quote! Love that he didn't use anyone's real name.

Posted by bizquig3000 on 2006-04-24 17:01:17 +0000
That's because I told the reporter our stage names, duh...

you don't have to be mean about it

Posted by tgl on 2006-04-24 18:37:34 +0000
Good thing they didn't award points for "tact".

Posted by G lib on 2006-04-25 11:46:23 +0000
Yeah, or take them away based on lack of tact. At the semifinals, Big Game said something akin to, "And make sure you come to our next show, next Friday, downstairs at the Middle East." and then they lost. (and the later on got the wildcard)

The Noise chimes in on the whole affair.

If you place second, The Herald gives you two paragraphs. I like how "Rocky Horror" is used to describe both C4RT and The Rudds on differing nights of the Rumble by The Noise and The Herald.

Wow. That review falls completely short of informative.

I guess that sucking is pretty Rocky Horror-esque.
