William H. Macy is the "uber-loser" whose luck turns with the help of a lovely lady. A little gruesome. Particulary when we see how cheaters are dealt with. Alec Baldwin plays a suitably un-likeable casino boss. That guy from Officespace in a supporting role. Great use of customes and lighting (OK, maybe wouldn't have noticed the lighting without watching the "Anatomy of a Scene" special feature). B+

Yeah, but you pretty much realize she's faking it during the initial scene in the diner.

Having a pregnant wife for 9 months, you would have thought I would catch on, but nope. I was fooled too. William H Macy is the shit. Maybe I'll watch Magnolia again this week. wish I could get my hands on some of the ER episodes when he was Dr. Morgenstern...
