This gives me the heebie jeebies

Brandeis Students Protest Removal of Palestinian Art So campus officials took it down. “This is outrageous,” countered Lior Halperin, the Brandeis student who organized the exhibit as the final project for the Brandeis course “The Arts of Building Peace.” She went on to assert that art by “12-year-olds from a Palestinian refugee camp [is] not going to be about flowers and balloons.”

I believe I saw that exhibit at the Cambridge Multicultural Center two summers ago. Disturbing work... maybe it was Iraqi schoolchildren art I saw. --- Your choice of "heebs" as short-hand for "heebie jeebies" is a bit unfortunate. Maybe not, what is the etymology of "heebie jeebie"?

It was Iraqi schoolchildren art. Yep, disturbing.

This is a snopes.com discussion on how the term 'heebie-jeebies' is not an ethnic slur. However, I did intend the play on words, but not one meant in a derogatory way.

Your choice of "heebs" as shorthand for "heebie-jeebies" is excellent.

Feel free to refer to me as a joob from now on.

That's my alma mater. So sad. I led much more effective protests, and as a concentrator in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies and Studio Fine Arts, with a program in Peace and Conflict Studies, I am horrified at the administration there.

The administration were just reacting to the 100 students protesting. The protesting itself makes me feel the most ill.

Good point. I hadn't read the article first...oops! I remember when there was a protest to get the Charlie Brown sized Christmas tree removed from the student center. My point is that Brandeisians sometimes have stupid protests. Then again, I don't think I ever had 100 people at one of my rallies. I did get 300 signatures on a petition in 3 hours, though!

I wonder what the record is for a thing like that? I'm impressed!
