I'll bite:

Total Annihilation -- Burning Buildings
Beastie Boys -- Alive
The Brian Jonestown Massacre -- Some Things Go Without Saying
Mr Bungle -- You Can't Make Me Mad
Devo -- Uncontrollable Urge
Polka Family -- At the Pond Oberek
Violent Femmes -- Heartache
Stereolab -- Brakhage
Page & Plant -- House Of Love
Mr Bungle -- Incoherence

It's weird when you do this with the mp3 player, since you can see what's coming...

Also, I just put all 21,033 tracks of the MCOTP on shuffle, and two Mr Bungle tracks in the top ten? It's a sign.

duly noted.

As discussed in prior posts, I'm a media carnivore. (Mediavore?)

Have and always will be a big fan of the album in it's context as an album and not individual songs.

but... I love integrating the old technology with the new. Always have, always will.

Didn't you used to make mix tapes? Other than being able to do it 5-6 times faster, If you are using all the same sources and bands / labels that you would if you were sitting indian style in front of a stereo, How is shuffling on a hard drive different?

The key word here to me is 'integrating'. Im certainly not advocating that one way of technology is 'bettter' or 'taking over' from another.

all media has a set spec list of pros and cons.

throwing LPs out? never.
consolidating cd boxes / artwork? never.
get rid of all my beloved WUNH cassettes? never. (unless of course I find an infinite amt of time to make cdrs to archive them)

I love that my initials are LP. Such a valued piece of musical history, past and present.

If I knew how to change my username I would become:
LP limited edition.

Separately, does any one remember what AM dial plays easy listening? $Trippi$ ?

Angie Stone - untitled hidden track
Leela James - A Change is Gonna Come
Bob Marley - Lively Up YOurself
Bob Marley - Hypocrites
EBTG - Alison (cover of Costello, of course)
Clapton - Sunshine of your love
Angie Stone - Time of the Month
OutKast - The Whole World
Leela James - Mistreating Me
Coldplay - Politik
Model 500 (off an EBTG mix) - The Flow
Moby - Why does my heart feel so bad?

I just noticed that's past 10. Why do I want to lie and shape my list to include Steve Wonder? How could I have 4 Wonder discs (whole, dawnbixler) and 4 Clapton discs (whole, dawnbixler)in my Ipod and yet I get two Leela James songs with only 1 Leela James album? and the same of Angie Stone?

Dawnbixler, I only put whole albums in my Ipod and only today did I discover this "shuffle" feature.

Posted by MF DU on 2006-06-19 13:56:44 +0000
I also don't cherrypick when putting things onto "the device" (tm) recordings prettymuch put on in their entirety, unless its a soundtrack or something where most of the tunes aren't great...

Posted by buzzorhowl on 2006-06-19 14:45:50 +0000
I have listened to Double Nickels so many times that hitting shuffle recontextualizes things, makes it easy to hear songs differently.

"Fly The Knot(1)" has been a hard one to track down, selling out the first pressing in a week. The reason? Talib and Doom over a hot-ass beat with a fly chorus, simple as that. Flip features solo Talib on the Kareem Riggins produced "Who Got It(2)," sounding rather forward for TK. Instrumentals for both.
