Zadie Smith apreesh

I just finished <a href ="http://books.guardian.co.uk/reviews/generalfiction/0,,1562117,00.html"> On Beauty </a>, and then wrote a fan letter. I am so, so taken with Ms. Smith's prose, pacing and characterization.

Read <A href ="http://www.culturewars.org.uk/booker2002/autographman.htm"> the Autograph Man </a> not so long ago, and was similarly gushing.

I met her once, when she was a Radcliffe Fellow. She bummed a cigarette from my drunken friend from work at the Dean's holiday wine and cheese, and we invited her to a party that Saturday. She said she'd think about it.

I saw her next with her boyfriend at a Streets show at the Paradise-- The same night that BQ's sister wanted to pour a beer on Natalie Portman's head.

Frame, you might have to fight me for #1 fan status... And all of you will, too if you <a href="http://www.wnyc.org/shows/lopate/episodes/2005/09/23">listen to her speak for a minute or two...</a>
