G199 Red Sox 4, Yankees 12 / G120 Red Sox 11, Yankees 14

After sitting through the day game for 4 hours, I'm glad I didn't pay much attention to the evening showing. Although, better breaks for the batsmen, eh? Hinske had a hell of a first game, three doubles and a catch to rob a home run from Giambi (?). Too bad he ended it with a strikeout and an error. The sun was burtal. Ortiz swung at a 3-0 pitch in the third inning. If only he had taken it, instead of grounding to first... Lots of opportunities this afternoon squander. Not bad pitching by Johnson. Not great pitching by Wang.

The Sox need relief pitching and timely bats, and right quick. Shit was brutal today, both games.

As I had been "working from home" yesterday, I took the laptop and the wireless to the couch and really did work in front of the game. Gave up on it in the 8th or so to come back to a real keyboard. I watched the first two and a half innings of the late show, and then the wife and I watched Johnny Dangerously. Although this was our third attempt, she made it to the end without falling asleep for the first time. So I flipped back to the game to see how it was going... it was still the fifth! We even watched all the credits! We had a bunch of trouble getting the DVD player to work! I was happy to go to bed after the sixth with the sox having a comfortable lead. I slept well.

Longest 9 inning game in major league history. Wow. I was looking for some good news last night after watching "Children Underground" with the wife; a documentary on street children in Bucharest, Romania. Tuning into the bottom of the seventh wasn't it.

Though it did look like Timlin had been huffing spraypaint.
