Everyone talks about the weather, but no one ever does anything about it
Totally loving the weather these days. Not too hot, not too humid, sunny August days. Windows open. Could go swimming, could wear long pants.... People are in good moods.
Only turned on the AC once so far in this month (I did miss the first week of Aug in Massachusetts)
My Underground Life
by G Lib
*Walk 15 minutes in the glorious sun (or rain) to the T.
*Take the T under the harbor, under City Hall, under the tall buildings Uptown, under the pru, symphony hall
*Come up for a sip of air from Northeastern to Brigham Circle
*Walk 100 yards to work, get more coffee,
*Take the elevator or stairs two floors down into the sub-basement
*Rummage around in dusty documents wearing a scarf and sweater, as it is always exactly 50 degrees in my office
*Take the elevator or stairs upstairs, intending to go to lunch
*Usually go back downstairs breifly to get appropriate equipment, (umbrella, or leave my sweater in my office) as I have no idea what the weather is outside, unless I check the internet-- it could be nuclear holocaust or a tsunami and I would have no idea.
*Sadly, go back to LL2 and rummage around in dusty documents until 5:00 with my scarf and sweater on.
*Take the T above ground until Northeastern in the glorious sun or rain or any kind of outside weather
*Back under Symphony Hall, Pru, Uptown, City Hall, Aquarium, Harbor.
Does this make me an ant, or a naked mole rat?
I usually don't notice the drastic amount of time I spend underground unless I've been camping and outside for an extended period of time. When I come back, it takes a while to adjust.
Is this the nicest August ever?
I was glad that Mr. Burke, in his speech toasting bride and groom, advised them to "go see the glaciers before they're gone." The one in this picture is still impressive, but it has retreated by about three hundred feet in the past three years.
