Who's Not Honoring Me Now: Stephen Colbert's take on 2006's MacArthur Genius Grant Recipients
From 09/20/06, Colbert gets medieval on <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvmT7Z_hkPg">John Zorn's ass</a>
<b>GENIUS GRANT PLEASE</b>!
<img src="http://blog.wfmu.org/photos/uncategorized/colbert_1.jpg">
This has been getting all kinds of <a href="http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/news.php?id=11170">nods</a> on the internet.
Chortle inducing.
In case you like this stuff as much as I do (Impossible you say? Nah...)
Just check out Stephen Colbert's Hiphopketball: A Jazzebration parts<a href ="http://youtube.com/watch?v=4pT3ynGhbMc"> One</a> and <a href ="http://youtube.com/watch?v=MgmyaSPFSnA">Two</a>
While noise as a genre is not to be disrespected (I'm thinking of Merzbow, Sunn 0))) in particular), It's hard to put Zorn in that bucket unless you only hear one piece of his that happens to lean that way.
All of this said, it is imperative to have a sense of humor, and Mr. Colbert does.
But a lot of us know, many of Colbert's listeners might equate Colbert's sax (w/ Kareem) with JZ's.
Colbert routinely has layers of irony.
