Who's Not Honoring Me Now: Stephen Colbert's take on 2006's MacArthur Genius Grant Recipients

From 09/20/06, Colbert gets medieval on John Zorn's ass GENIUS GRANT PLEASE! This has been getting all kinds of nods on the internet. Chortle inducing. In case you like this stuff as much as I do (Impossible you say? Nah...) Just check out Stephen Colbert's Hiphopketball: A Jazzebration parts One and Two

Well, noise acts, aren't everyone's cup of tea.... interesting bit with Kareem Abdul though.

You might get that impression from the piece Colbert picked, put the problem of having 400+ albums in yr discography is that it is easy to miss stuff like this. While noise as a genre is not to be disrespected (I'm thinking of Merzbow, Sunn 0))) in particular), It's hard to put Zorn in that bucket unless you only hear one piece of his that happens to lean that way. All of this said, it is imperative to have a sense of humor, and Mr. Colbert does.

Oh my gosh, don't get me wrong. I don't think Zorn is a 'noise' act, when talking about jazz genres (He's more 'free/carnival'?). My bad. But a lot of us know, many of Colbert's listeners might equate Colbert's sax (w/ Kareem) with JZ's. Colbert routinely has layers of irony.
