NPR: liberal shills

Not so much NPR, but whoever writes the underwriting segments for Dewar's scotch. Distiller Tommy Dewar (or whatever his name) said "A mind is like a parachute, it only works when opened?", back in 1861?! I don't want my radio to sound like the back of a Volvo driven by a bald man with a pony tail. In sandals.

If I was drinking milk right now I probably would have shot it out of my nose - lol.

Speaking of poorly executed attempts to be pithy on bumper stickers, there is a car in my neighborhood with a few of them. One of them says "Well behaved women rarely make history", and so I'm envisioning the female equivalent of tgl's Volvo driver above. One of them I don't get: "Denial is not a river in Egypt!" What is this person trying to tell me??? Okay, I get the pun, but is that it? Or is there an attempt at a holier-than-thou message here that's going over my head?

I donated to my local NPR station for the first time this morning. Hoping I won the $1000 shopping spree at Borders Books. Pledged enough to get the 1430AM-BBC mug, which will look rockin' on my desk. Gave for many years in Boston, and am proud to give in Nashville.

I donated enough to get the "I saved public radio" mug, which I was very proud of... then someone broke it.
